URBANDON

Sustainable menswear from mainly reclaimed materials

I found URBANDON on etsy and I really like.  "Don Pezzano" ( will he  be of Italian origin?) creates unique pieces,  from reclaimed materials, very special for men and women such as coats, pants, vests, jewelry and accessories.

The thing that impressed me is that we have the same mentality.....we belive in "petit-production", which means the willingness to work on slower rhytm and scale.

URBANDON

He says:
"I am a menswear designer and jeweller living in Sydney with my partner and various dogs. My goal is to create cool, sustainable and wearable clothes and accessories. I'm naturally frugal and concerned with the unethical and unsustainable practices in fast fashion today. This standpoint has influenced my designs from the drawing board to the end product. I use only deadstock fabrics, organic cottons, wool and reclaimed fabrics. Packaging is recycled paper and card, swing tags and business cards are recycled paper stock.
I focus on modern and deconstructed clothing that is durable, well-made and sustainable. I am not into 'tricky' or 'over-the-top'. Simple, clean and calm designs for creative, patient and intelligent customers. No mass-production. No trashy fabrics. No following trends or seasonal colours. I don't have to play those games and I create for people who are interested in something a little deeper when it comes to their clothes. There is an element of science-fiction and costume to my clothes that I just can't escape from. I was bred on Star Wars, The Fifth Element and Blade Runner. I'd like to think my clothes would be just at home on the planets Tatooine or Caladan."

Maria Cristina Cecchini does an amazing job!

In this way she creates contemporary jewelery really very special.

She said:

My textile jewels Aliquid rise from my fascination and love for yarns, crochet and ceramic.
Each piece of my jewelry is personally handmade. Beads, pendant, claps in raku are totally handmade by me. I live in my ancient land of Montefeltro where I was born.

80's inspired sweatshirt

Remember the movie Flashdance? Ahhh, yes. Good memories of Jennifer Beals welding by day and dancing by night. Besides being a wildly popular movie and soundtrack of the 80’s, several fashion styles were sparked by the movie. Leg warmer, high heels with spandex and oversize sweatshirts just to name a few.

On the cover of every cassette player was a picture of Jennifer’s character in an oversized sweatshirt. One sleeve hung off the shoulder. Girls, and guys to a lesser extent, copied this look for years. An oversized sweatshirt, with or without the sleeves, was worn over a bra, tank top or smaller shirt. The ensemble was then paired with spandex pants (leggings), really tight jeans or a mini skirt.
The oversize sweatshirts came with any print imaginable on them. Colleges even began adopting the new styles, and put their logo on the oversized duds. When the neon craze hit, sweatshirts were ready to adopt them too. Fluorescent colors were often times seen over a black pair of spandex or jeans.

Below there are the modern versions, the "LOVE" sweatshirt is our own creation, the one who wears Irene (one of the coolest Italian fashion blogger) is Maison About for About. Different ways of wearing them for different styles!

Vanessa's work is great, I like her way of representing reality.
I love the colors and the feeling that I get from looking at her pictures!

She says:
My inspiration comes from my surroundings. Montreal is a very inspirational place that gives me the right amount of city and green. I live in the heart of the city with my two cats, Frank and Chloe, and my dog, Truman. I love to venture out and capture everything that sparks my interest and curiosity. I hope you like my work!

A little of Marketing

What people buy when they buy something on sale

Assuming it's not something they were shopping for in the first place...
The impulse big-sale buy is not a matter of acquiring a high value item they'll need later at a bargain price today.
No, the consumer is spending money in exchange for the feeling, right now, of saving big. The joy of a bargain. The item is secondary, the feeling is what we just paid for.
You wouldn't know that from the way people selling things act, but that's what we buy.
[Aside: More than a billion people on Earth have never purchased anything on sale at a store. The clearance-sale emotion is a learned one, and a recent one at that.]

LEGGINGS

After DuPont created the earliest form of lycra in 1959, leggings became available to wear as trousers similar to the popular Capri pants favored by Mary Tyler Moore and Audrey Hepburn, but much, much tighter. But it was not until the fitness and aerobics craze in the very early 1980s that leggings made their way from the gyms and dance studios to the streets. The popularity of Cindy Lauper, Madonna and the movie Flashdancewith teens brought them into the mainstream. Worn with skirts and mini dresses, under long shirts with slouchy socks and biker boots thru the early 90s, it’s no accident their current popularity coincides with the recent grunge revival.

True to their origins of keep fit, leggings are the ultimate pull-on-and-go garments. They can be tossed in the washing machine and dryer, they don’t need to be folded, let alone ironed – they are just so easy. What it boils down to is comfort. The fact is, no matter how much we love fashion, when it comes to our day-to-day clothing, most of us are wearing layers and leggings.these

Below are the latest leggings, I find them very original. wear leggings like these makes you unique. they are super!!

The Great Frog London

I like this story of old crafters : The Great Frog London

The Great Frog made its name catering to a niche clientele of rockers, bikers and those on the edge of the mainstream. Established in 1972, the company was a refreshing change from the 60s revolution which persisted in London. The City was ready for a new era, and original rock and roll jewellery was born.

The family-run business has a celebrated heritage of individually hand-carved pieces made on site at the original basement on Ganton Street, Soho – the very place the company began in the 70s.

Throughout the decade, The Great Frog has designed bespoke pieces for many international names from the fashion and music industries, including rock legends Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Slash and Aerosmith. Other wearers of the brand, and therefore a part of its heritage, include Johnny Depp, Kate Moss and Oasis.

As well as the original store in Soho, The Great Frog has also expanded to include stores in New York and Los Angeles, though all pieces continue to be handcrafted in Soho.
